![]() This alone won't do much to the Sumo, but it will in combination with the fence. By pressing SQUARE / X he can then use his body like a cannonball, firing himself at his opponent and knocking it back. The way to beat him is to use his trap against him.īy using homing attack on the blue laser fence panels, Sonic will be able to aim himself at the Sumo. The Sumo is a big lumbering Guardian that will trap you in a large laser fence when you get near. This trick will spawn infinite rings, allowing you to sustain more hits. If you're running low on rings, jump off the rail and use Cycloop in the sand beneath the strider. This second part can be surprisingly difficult due to Sonic's wonky depth perception, so take it slow. You'll then start a second phase which is almost identical to the first, although the strider will shoot fire projectiles that move around multiple rings rather than simply fire a laser that moves around one ring. When all three rails are completely blue, you'll be able to homing attack the Strider's head and perform a series of attacks. To beat this section, you have to switch rails whenever the laser is close. The same process applies here, although the Strider will fire a laser at you. You'll eventually come to three large grind rail rings surrounding the Strider's head. Form a full blue circle to advance further up the Strider's body. As soon as you latch onto them, a small blue trail with form wherever Sonic grinds. First, find the set of small grind rail rings next to the Strider. The trick to these guys is to focus on the grind rail rings surrounding them. They're pretty hard to miss, towering above the map like very angry skyscrapers. The Strider is a giant, spider-like machine that shoots red lasers at Sonic as he approaches. Keep the cycle going three times the shark will eventually fall, providing you with a shiny portal gear. The inputs required will be shown on the screen when you need to input them. When you have it by the tail, you'll need to ride on the back of the shark until it tires out and falls to its side.īe warned that there are QTEs during this section, with Sonic having to match directional inputs with the movement of the shark to prevent losing his grip. Once it does, homing attack its tail to latch onto it. The key to defeating this beast is to wait for it to leap into the air. The shark is a deadly foe that can dive beneath the sand dunes and attack suddenly.
